MY MBBS INTERVIEW SESSION

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim

ALHAMDULILLAH, after I applied for several medschools in Malaysia, I've received a profiling letter from one of the medschools. it is Widad University College in August 2016, formerly known as UCSA, University College SHAHPUTRA. It is located in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. The date that I get is on 29th June 2015. I've decided to go to the profiling session with my family.

The profiling session is from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. I've decided to go early to the profiling session about 9 a.m. When I arrived at UCSA, the profiling session have started and surprisingly, I was the last candidates, haha. I know that the other candidates arrived earlier than me, yep ! I just know that only 5 candidates were interviewed on this session. The assistant registrar faculty told me that the profiling session only held once a week because the Faculty of Medicine only take 50 students on each year. Alhamdulillah, I received this opportunity ! Now I must do the best for the iv session !

I feel so nervous..! Even I've read several tips on medical student interview session, I just can't deny my nervousness. oh my english !

When my name being called, I walk through and standing in front of interviewer's room and asking permission to enter by knocking that glass door and say ‘Assalamualaikum’ .In short, the interviewer let me in and start the session.

First of all, the interviewer just writing something on paper of my assessments as a candidate. Suddenly, he ask me "Do you know my name? ". Zaaaap !! Before I enter the room ,how can I forget to ask the assistant registrar faculty about who is interviewing me??? Junior, whatever it is, you must know who is the person interviewing you. The name and the position at least. I really don't know about who the interviewer is. I just remember a name when I've read a blog about interview mbbs shahputra last night. "Hmm, Dr. Hameed ?" I guess. The answer is NO. Actually, his name is Dr. Mahmood, the Deputy Dean of Clinical. But Dr. Mahmood is okay with it, he said that actually Dr. Hameed is the one that should handle this interview session, but he got work to do. hmm,, okayy...

And then Dr. Mahmood asked me to introduce myself. I speak out loud about myself and then I forgot something, my eye contact with the doctor. Dr. Mahmood said that "Whatever it is, please keep your eye contact when you speak to someone, as doctor, you must be honest. Please look at the eye. " So please dear junior, your eye contact is very important!

Okay the second question is why do you want to become a doctor? okay, it is a common question. My answer is simple. "Because I want to help people in the way to heal them." Tett ! Wrong answer again. Dr. Mahmood said "No, it is a wrong concept actually. Only God, Allah can heal sick people. What we as a human can do? Yep, we just can help them, finding cure for the sick people, try to give the best as a doctor can do, the rest is Tawakkal, give the rest to Allah." I can't remember several important points about this question, but all of the answer actually give a light to me. Brainwashed me about what a doctor must know.

The third question is, do you involve with co curricular activities?

The forth question is, do you think that exercise is important as a student? Yes, of course it is important because, it will maintain our health, besides, it can help us to release stress. And as a medical student who will be a doctor soon, you must be fit enough to take care a sick person.

The fifth question- A situation was given : An accident on the road occurred near you. What must you do? You don't learn anything yet about medic, what must you do? Give me 4 steps. Hmm Okay, 1-call the Ambulance, 2 3 4. ohh I don't remember but the most important is, don't do anything like a paramedic, okay?

The sixth question is - Second situation was given : someone beside you have a cut on his leg, bleeding continuously. What should you do? I said "Wrap the bleeding leg to stop the bleeding". "But, you don't have any bandage, you don't carry bandage all the time isn't it?". "Tear my shirt and wrap the bleeding leg?" The answer is no again. Hmm okay. "You wear a scarf(tudung) isn't it? Why not using it during emergency situation like this? You don't have to tear anything. Just use your scarf ". Ahah. In my mind [will I pass this interview?  How many times I just gave inaccurate answers.] Okay, stay positive kak ngah !

The seventh question is do you study while listening to music? I said depends on music.

What kind of music did you hear? yep, I like to hear the slow music only or sentimental instrument music. It will help me to focus when I'm studying, avoid me from being sleepy.

The eighth question is what do you prefer to be- a leader or a follower? I said that sometimes I become a leader, sometimes I become a follower. Depends on situation. Dr. Mahmood really impressed with my answer. He said " You are a smart girl, you know? " Alhamdulillah.

The ninth question is do you think you will pass this profiling session? ohh what can I say.... Dr. Mahmood continue " There is a surau here, what do you want to do after you pass this profiling session? Sujud Syukur, pray 2 rakaat of solat sunat.

"Alhamdulillah, congratulation ,you pass this interview !! Welcome to SHAHPUTRA MBBS. All the best and be a good student and doctor. "

ALHAMDULILLAH !!!

Finally after 25 minutes of interview session, I passed this interview. The assistant registrar faculty told me that I have to pay rm500 to ensure my place in MBBS for this year intake. And she gave me the document of medical check up that I must do ( it has a blood test in it, so, you must fasting during your medical check up).

And for your additional information juniors, each semester we have to pay registration fees. For the first semester, we have to pay about rm2k. for the next nine semesters, we got to pay rm1.5k as the registration fees for each semester.
